Local South Florida Band Wins 2018 SunFest Battle Of The Bands, Will Perform At The Music Festival
by Holly Gabriel
For up-and-coming bands, there’s no better feeling than getting to perform on a stage with a big audience, in hopes that it leads the band closer to their dreams.
That’s why SunFest Battle of the Bands is so exciting for local performers. Battle of the Bands, held by the SunFest music festival, happened on March 28. Five bands competed at the event for the final spot on this year’s SunFest lineup.
This year’s winner: Big Sounds Better (BSB), a progressive, urban music group based in South Florida.
BSB’s music has been topping college radio charts, and the band has performed at various music festivals, such as Miami’s Art Basel in 2016 and 2017, Daytona Main Street Live, Delandapalooza and South by Southwest.
BSB describes their style of music as progressive maximalism—a fusion of pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, soul, funk and be-bop. You can listen to their EP at soundcloud.com/bigsoundsbetter/sets/big, or catch them at SunFest on May 6, from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the jetBlue stage.
